DHS April 2026 Update

I’m Still Here!

Hey Engineers,

Just a quick note to let you know I’m still here and the Studio is active.

Over the past couple of years I’ve taken on larger-scale audio work through my production company, Studio 1970. The most recent project was an independent feature suspense film called, They Make Themselves Small, that we’ve now delivered for streaming.

The mix itself used standard tools — including Waves L1 and WLM Plus — and hit the required LUFS targets on paper. The platform rejected the delivery anyway, without specific notes. So I’m back in the chair hunting down whatever invisible issues they’re seeing. It’s a reminder that meeting the numbers is only part of the job; the real test is how it translates on their end.

At the same time, I’m in the middle of mixing two 60-minute documentary films for Dahl House clients. Each one is running two months or more in post, which is the nature of this kind of long-form work. (The feature took years from start to finish).

These projects mean YouTube uploads will stay light for the next couple of months. The newsletter is now the most reliable way to stay in touch. I’ll keep sending notable plugin and gear news, current deals, and the occasional short observation from the desk as things come up.

In the meantime, there are plenty of Dahl House Studios videos I’m sure you haven’t seen. Might as well catch-up!

If you have questions about any of the above — delivery specs, loudness troubleshooting, or long-form mixing realities — hit reply. I read every message.

More soon,

Jason Dahl
